Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 26, 2026
Last updated: April 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Yakura LLC (“Yakura,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Loop video player mobile application (“the App”). By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.
Loop is designed to be local-first. The App plays video files that are already on your device or that you choose to stream from a network source you provide. We do not operate any backend servers that receive your media, viewing history, or personal data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Local Media Files
To show your library and play videos, the App reads video files from your device’s local storage using Android’s media APIs. File metadata (title, duration, resolution, folder path, generated thumbnails, last-played position) is stored in the App’s private, sandboxed database on your device. None of this information is transmitted off-device by Yakura.
1.2 Playback History & Settings
Your watch history, playlists, parental-control PIN, restricted folder list, and per-video resume positions are stored locally in the App’s private storage. You can clear history at any time from within the App, and uninstalling the App removes all of this data.
1.3 Network Streaming URLs
If you choose to play a remote URL through the Network feature, the App connects directly from your device to the host you provided. The URL itself, the bytes of the streamed media, and any subtitle files you request are processed on your device only. We do not log, proxy, or relay these requests through Yakura infrastructure.
1.4 Subtitles & Streaming Cache
Downloaded subtitle files and cached video chunks (for remote streams) are stored on your device for performance and can be cleared from Settings → Manage downloaded subtitles and Settings → Streaming cache.
1.5 What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, advertising identifier, contact list, or the contents, titles, or thumbnails of the videos you play. The App does not include third-party analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs.
2. App Permissions
The App requests the following Android permissions, each used only for the purpose described:
- Read media (video / visual user-selected) — to discover and play video files in your local library.
- Internet & Network state — to play remote media URLs you enter through the Network feature, and to fetch subtitle files you request.
- Foreground service (media playback / data sync) — to keep playback alive in the background and to perform user-initiated downloads.
- Post notifications (Android 13+) — to display the media-playback notification with transport controls while a video is playing.
You can revoke any runtime permission at any time through your device’s system settings.
3. Third-Party Services
Loop does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or messaging SDKs. When you choose to stream from a remote URL or download a subtitle file, your device communicates directly with the host you specified; that host is operated by a third party with its own privacy policy, which we do not control.
4. How We Use Information
Because Loop processes information locally on your device, Yakura does not “use” your viewing data in the conventional sense — it never reaches us. Local data is used by the App on your device to:
- Show your video library, folders, and playlists
- Resume playback from where you left off
- Apply parental-control restrictions you have configured
- Cache subtitles and remote-stream chunks for smoother playback
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information, because we do not collect it from your device. We may disclose information if compelled by law, regulation, legal process, or a governmental request that applies to Yakura LLC, but in practice we hold no user video data, history, or identifiers that could be the subject of such a request.
6. Data Retention
Local library metadata, history, playlists, and cache files are retained on your device until you delete them through the App or your device settings. Yakura does not operate servers that store your data.
7. Data Security
Locally stored data resides in the App’s sandboxed private storage area, which is protected by Android’s per-app isolation. Network requests you initiate to remote streams or subtitle hosts are made directly from your device using the host’s own protocol (typically HTTPS where the host supports it). No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children’s Privacy
Loop is a general-audience media player and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in jurisdictions where that is the applicable minimum age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The optional Parental Controls feature lets a parent or guardian hide selected folders behind a PIN.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, PIPEDA, POPIA, the Australian Privacy Act, APPI, and PIPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port personal data we hold about you, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. Because Yakura does not collect or hold personal data through the App, you can exercise the substantive equivalent of these rights directly on your device:
- Clear history: from within the App’s history screen
- Clear subtitle cache: Settings → Manage downloaded subtitles
- Clear streaming cache: Settings → Streaming cache
- Revoke permissions: via your device’s system settings
- Delete all data: uninstall the App or clear App data via your device’s system settings
If you have a question we cannot resolve through the in-app controls above, contact us using the details in Section 13.
10. International Data Transfers
Because the App does not transmit your data to Yakura, no international transfer of personal data takes place as a result of using the App. Any connection you initiate to a remote streaming or subtitle host travels directly from your device to that host on a path determined by the network and the host’s own infrastructure.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Effective date” and “Last updated” dates at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after the updated policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
12. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
This Privacy Policy is provided for informational purposes only and is intended to comply with applicable data-protection laws. While we make commercially reasonable efforts to safeguard the App’s local storage as described in Section 7, we cannot and do not guarantee absolute security. Yakura LLC, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors (collectively, the “Yakura Parties”) shall not be liable for any unauthorized access to, alteration of, disclosure of, or destruction of any information stored locally by the App, except to the extent such liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.
The Yakura Parties also shall not be liable for the acts, omissions, data-handling practices, security measures, or privacy policies of any third party whose remote stream or subtitle host you choose to access through the App.
For full details regarding warranties, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, governing law, and dispute resolution, please review our Terms of Use, which are incorporated herein by reference and govern your use of the App.
